The Ramparts of Ice

The Ramparts of Ice is a slice of life, romance, and coming of age web-toon manga that was adapted to an anime for Netflix in 2026. It follows the introverted Koyuki as she makes friends. These friends help her slowly let down her wall. Miki, Koyuki's childhood friend, is the popular type. Yota is easygoing, plays basketball. Minato is "boundary-less" and drawn to outsiders.

What I really like about this anime is that not only are the characters complex, but they grow so much as people throughout this series. I love how much reflection and self-improvement goes on. I joke that they are all 4 of my brain cells, and I think that is the beauty of such 3 dimensional characters. You can probably see parts of yourself in each of them. Also, they all just have really great chemistry, and remind me of my friends when I was a teenager. Also also, the webtoon color palette is very neutral and it scratches an itch in my brain.
